Diageo Nigeria, alongside Celebr-8 Lyfe, the Lagos State Ministry of Employment and Wealth Creation and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, has graduated 300 young Nigerians from the first batch of its Learning for Life programme focused on hospitality and tourism training.
In a statement, the company said the initiative, which began in September 2025, surpassed its original goal of training 250 youths, with over 300 participants successfully completing the programme.
According to Diageo, beneficiaries received training in hospitality operations, workplace preparedness, mentorship and employability skills, alongside access to job opportunities within the sector.
The company disclosed that more than 150 participants secured internship placements in hospitality establishments across Lagos, while some have already moved into full-time employment after completing their internships.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, General Manager for West and Central Africa at Diageo, Adebayo Alli, said the outcome of the maiden edition demonstrated the value of partnerships in addressing youth unemployment and strengthening workforce capacity in the hospitality industry.
“Learning for Life reflects our belief that skills development is one of the most sustainable pathways to economic empowerment,” Alli said.
The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development Commissioner, Mobolaji Ogunlende, also praised Diageo Nigeria for providing employment and skill-building opportunities for youths through the initiative.
