His response follows a statement from the Presidency indicating plans to prosecute the activist over claims that he circulated a manipulated audio recording of the President.
The controversy began after an X user shared claims that an AI-generated voice clip attributed to Tinubu appeared in one of VDM’s videos, sparking widespread debate online.
In the disputed audio, a voice resembling the President allegedly suggested that insecurity in the country would persist because some Nigerians did not vote for him in the 2023 election.
Reacting in a video posted on his social media page, VDM dismissed the allegation and launched a verbal attack on presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, using strong language while accusing him of failing in his duties.
He also criticised the Presidency’s focus on the matter, questioning why similar urgency was not applied to recent cases of insecurity, particularly the abduction of teachers and students in Oyo State.
VDM claimed that one of the kidnapped teachers was later reported killed, while others remain in captivity, noting that the incident occurred even as Nigerians marked Children’s Day.
He further alleged that the government had remained largely silent on the situation, contrasting it with the swift reaction to the viral audio controversy.
In the video, he said: “Bayo Onanuga, where is your comment on that? As I speak to you today, it is Children’s Day. Those children are still in an unknown location.”
The activist also rejected claims that he was promoting propaganda, insisting he would not defend the disputed audio but maintaining that national security concerns should take priority.
The Presidency has not yet issued a detailed response to his latest remarks at the time of filing this report.
