Ghanaian singer Captan has made a series of claims involving his former record label boss Shatta Wale and Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, alleging that Shatta Wale once played a role in securing Burna Boy’s release from police custody in Ghana.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Captan claimed that Burna Boy was arrested in Ghana over alleged marijuana use and that Shatta Wale directed him and others to intervene and secure his release from detention.
According to him, he personally took part in the process that led to Burna Boy’s release from police custody.
“I once bailed Burna Boy out of prison in Ghana when he was arrested for smoking weed. Shatta Wale sent me and some guys to go and free him from police custody,” Captan said during the interview.
He further alleged that at another point in time, Burna Boy was provided shelter by Shatta Wale’s circle when he was allegedly being pursued by individuals he described as dangerous.
Captan added that Burna Boy is no longer on good terms with him following a fallout involving the Nigerian star and Shatta Wale. He, however, suggested that reconciliation remains possible if Burna Boy chooses to reach out.
The claims come amid a history of public interactions and occasional tensions between artistes within the Ghanaian and Nigerian music scenes, particularly among figures linked to dancehall and Afrobeats collaborations.
As of the time of reporting, neither Shatta Wale nor Burna Boy has publicly responded to Captan’s remarks.
