As insecurity continues to raise concerns in parts of the South-West, Sunday Igboho says his security outfit has begun coordinated operations aimed at securing forests and tackling criminal hideouts. The Yoruba nation activist, in a video shared online while addressing members of the Iru Ekun Security Network, said the initiative targets terrorists and other criminal elements operating in forest areas.
He added that the operations would also extend to Yoruba-speaking parts of Kogi and Kwara states. According to him, the group has already commenced activities and is determined to confront insecurity affecting communities across the region.
His comments come amid heightened security concerns in Oyo State following recent abductions involving pupils and teachers. Igboho maintained that forests should not serve as safe havens for criminals and insisted that urgent action was necessary.
He directed coordinators of the security network to formally notify state governments and security agencies, including the State Security Service, and seek cooperation for their operations. The activist also claimed the initiative has received backing from some government officials, security agencies, and Yoruba stakeholders.
He further commended traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife and the Olubadan of Ibadan, for their support, while urging members of the network to remain disciplined during operations.
