Nigerian Afrobeats singer Peruzzi has revealed that meeting music superstar Davido significantly changed his life, a shift he says contributed to the end of his seven-year relationship.
The singer made the disclosure during an appearance on the talk show Lights, Camera, It’s My Turn, hosted by VJ Adams alongside Tope Olowoniyan and rapper Falz.
Peruzzi admitted that shortly after connecting with Davido, he became overwhelmed by sudden exposure to fame, travel, and a fast-paced lifestyle that affected his personal life.
According to him, the excitement of moving between countries and experiencing a new world made him unintentionally neglect communication with his then-girlfriend.
“I have had a relationship that did not work because I did not text back for like three days,” he said. “I was with my guys, enjoying life. First of all, I just met Davido.”
He described how quickly his situation changed after meeting the Afrobeats star, saying he went from an ordinary routine to international travel within days.
“Imagine this, you just met Davido, and tomorrow you are on a flight to Dubai. The following day, a flight to Lebanon. I do not understand. I am calling whom?” he added.
Peruzzi explained that at the time, he was fully immersed in the experience and not focused on maintaining regular communication in his relationship.
“Why do you think I would call you? First of all, I am enjoying something that has never happened to me in my life,” he said.
When reminded during the interview that his girlfriend was still waiting for him, he responded humorously, saying, “She no go die now.”
Despite the light tone, the singer acknowledged that the outcome might have been different if he had been more emotionally invested in the relationship at the time.
The conversation has since sparked reactions online, with fans debating how fame, success, and sudden lifestyle changes can impact personal relationships.
