Iran’s foreign ministry has said that conclusions have been reached on several topics discussed in a potential memorandum of understanding with the United States, but stressed that this does not mean a deal is close.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that negotiations were still ongoing and cautioned against expectations of an imminent agreement.
“Conclusions have been reached on many topics discussed in a potential memorandum of understanding with the US, but this does not mean Tehran is close to signing an agreement,” he said.
He added that Iran is negotiating an end to the war and is not currently discussing nuclear issues, according to the foreign ministry briefing.
Baghaei also said shifting positions by US officials were complicating the process and making it harder to reach a final agreement.
The statement comes amid continued diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington, with both sides signalling cautious progress but maintaining significant differences on key issues.
