In ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the North East, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified air operations against terrorist groups in Adamawa and Borno States, striking suspected hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns and Mandara Mountains.
The missions, conducted on May 19, 2026 under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted Bukar Meram and Chikide based on credible intelligence and surveillance confirming terrorist logistics hubs and assembly points in the areas.
According to a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes neutralized several terrorists, destroyed logistics facilities, and disrupted planned attacks.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to joint operations with other security agencies to eliminate terrorism and restore peace, noting that intelligence-led airstrikes will continue to target insurgent hideouts across the North East.
