Polish striker says goodbye to Camp Nou after four successful seasons as transfer links to Saudi Arabia and MLS continue to grow….
Robert Lewandowski has officially announced that his time at Barcelona will come to an end this summer, closing the chapter on one of the club’s most important rebuilding eras in recent years.
The veteran Polish striker confirmed on Saturday that he will leave the Spanish giants once his contract expires, bringing an emotional end to a four-year stay at Camp Nou.
Lewandowski, now 37, arrived at Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 at a time when the Catalan club was struggling financially and fighting to regain its dominance in Spanish football. Despite doubts surrounding the transfer at the time, the experienced forward quickly proved his value both on and off the pitch.
During his spell with Barcelona, Lewandowski scored 119 goals in 191 appearances across all competitions and helped the club secure three La Liga titles, including this season’s triumph, as well as the 2025 Copa del Rey crown.
In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, the striker reflected on his journey with the club and thanked supporters for their loyalty throughout his stay.
“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on,” Lewandowski wrote. “I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete.”
He also praised the city and fans who embraced him from the moment he arrived.
“Barcelona is back where it belongs,” he added. “I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia will always feel like home to me.”
Lewandowski is expected to make his final appearance at Camp Nou on Sunday when Barcelona host Real Betis, with manager Hansi Flick confirming the striker will start the match.
Flick, who previously worked with Lewandowski during their successful years together at Bayern Munich, paid tribute to the forward’s professionalism and influence in the dressing room.
“He’s a fantastic person and one of the best professionals I’ve ever worked with,” Flick said. “Every single day he pushed himself to remain at the highest level. Young players can learn a lot from him.”
The German coach also highlighted the incredible success they enjoyed together over the years, describing Lewandowski as a key figure in many of the trophies they won.
Barcelona also released an emotional farewell message on social media, thanking the striker for his goals, leadership, and unforgettable moments in the famous Blaugrana colours.
Lewandowski leaves the club as one of the most prolific forwards of his generation. He finished as La Liga’s top scorer in his debut season under former manager Xavi Hernandez and remained a major attacking force throughout his stay.
Although his next destination has not yet been officially confirmed, reports continue to link him with possible moves to Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer in the United States.
Wherever he goes next, Lewandowski’s departure marks the end of a memorable era for Barcelona and the farewell of a striker who helped restore belief at one of football’s biggest clubs.
