The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)Â says all 22 political parties in Nigeria have met the requirement to submit their membership registers under the Electoral Act 2026.
The commission disclosed that the submissions were completed ahead of the extended May 10, 2026 deadline, following adjustments to its election timetable.
INEC explained that the review of the 2027 election schedule was agreed with political parties during consultations earlier in the year, which also set timelines for party primaries and preparatory activities.
Under the framework, parties are expected to conduct their primaries between April 23 and May 30, 2026, and submit membership records at least 21 days before those exercises. INEC confirmed that every registered party complied within the approved timeline.
With submissions now concluded, the commission says it will proceed to verify the registers as part of statutory electoral procedures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
