Belgium head coach Rudi Garcia has included striker Romelu Lukaku in his World Cup squad despite admitting the forward is still short of full fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The Napoli forward, who recently turned 33, has made only seven substitute appearances this season, playing a total of 69 minutes after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out for two months.
According to BBC Sport on Friday, Garcia described Lukaku as an important part of the squad but acknowledged the striker is still regaining match sharpness.
“Romelu has recovered, but he’s out of shape, and I’m not sure he’ll be able to start the matches. But he’s our best striker, Belgium’s all-time leading scorer,” Garcia said.
