Tinubu is attending the forum alongside African leaders and top business executives to discuss trade, investment, and regional cooperation across the continent.
According to the presidency, the proposed policy is aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Rwanda while promoting easier movement across African countries. Rwanda already grants Nigerians visa-free entry for up to 30 days.
Both leaders also agreed to revive the Nigeria-Rwanda Joint Commission, established in 2021 to boost cooperation between the two nations. Nigeria is expected to host the next meeting. Their discussions focused on improving trade, easing travel, strengthening government collaboration, and activating agreements on tourism, anti-corruption, and the fight against drug trafficking.
Nigeria and Rwanda also reaffirmed their support for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which seeks to improve trade and economic integration across Africa. In addition, Nigeria is holding talks with RwandAir to improve travel and export connections between both countries as part of wider efforts to reduce travel barriers and support economic growth in Africa.
