Former Sunday Oliseh has attributed the growing migration of players from the Nigeria Premier Football League to abroad to poor pay and unfavourable working conditions.
Oliseh argued that improving player welfare and ensuring fair compensation are essential to keeping talent in the domestic league.
He urged authorities to take urgent steps to make the NPFL more attractive and sustainable for professionals.
“Look, football is a business, it’s what players use to pay their bills, feed their families, plan their futures,” Oliseh to Brila sports.
“Even if it’s 1,000 dollars, if you multiply it to Naira it’s a big money. When we were playing there was never one month that they owed us. It might be small but we were paid on time.
“People built family with that money with consistent savings. If you want players to stay in Nigeria ensure the league is conducive and okay.
“Don’t blame people who try to feed their family, put them in your shoes. If you don’t feed your wife she will complain.”
