Nollywood actress Blessing Onwukwe has disclosed that she received more than N1 million for her performance in the second part of the widely discussed Nollywood movie Monica.
Speaking during an interview on Yanga FM, the actress, known for playing the controversial character “Mama Monica”, said the commercial success of Monica 2 was reflected in the payment she received for the project.
According to her, the amount paid for the role exceeded the N1 million mark, although she declined to reveal the exact figure.
“It passed the one-million mark for Monica II. I don’t want to call any other amount, but it’s more than one million,” she said.
Onwukwe also explained how she prepared for the role after unexpectedly being selected for the production. She said she spent time building a personal backstory for the character to better understand and portray the emotionally demanding role.
“I started thinking about how I was going to bring the character to life. I had to create a background story for her,” the actress explained during the interview.
The film, which stars Uche Montana, has emerged as one of Nollywood’s most talked-about releases of 2026. Monica has attracted millions of views on YouTube and generated significant reactions across social media platforms.
The movie explores themes surrounding family pressure, sacrifice, and the responsibilities placed on firstborn daughters. Onwukwe’s portrayal of a manipulative mother figure has particularly drawn attention from viewers online, contributing to the film’s viral success.
