Nigerian actor Zubby Michael has revealed that he deliberately stayed away from romantic relationships during the early stages of his acting career in order to remain focused on building his craft.
Speaking in an interview with Broadway TV, the Nollywood star said his decision was driven by the need to concentrate on his professional growth, especially during his difficult years in the Asaba film industry.
He explained that becoming emotionally involved at the time could have distracted him from his goals and potentially slowed his rise in the industry.
Zubby noted that his choice was not based on any negative perception of women, whom he described as beautiful, but rather a personal strategy to maintain discipline and avoid distractions while working hard.
According to him, relationships come with emotional responsibilities that, if not properly managed, can affect productivity and mental focus.
He added that as a young actor struggling to establish himself, he chose to prioritize career stability over romance.
Zubby further stated that his perspective has now changed as he has achieved a greater level of stability in his life, including owning a home, which he believes makes him more open to love at this stage.
He stressed that life operates in phases and that every stage has its own priorities, saying his early years were strictly about building a strong foundation before considering relationships.
The actor concluded that he now feels more prepared to explore love, having achieved significant personal and professional milestones.
