Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has dismissed reports suggesting he plans to contest Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, describing a campaign poster circulating online as false and deceptive.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Media Adviser and Consultant, Terver Akase, the former governor said he has no intention of seeking the presidency or contesting for any elective office in the next general elections.
The statement said the poster, which has gained attention on social media, was created by individuals seeking to mislead the public and trigger unnecessary political discussions.
According to Akase, Ortom has consistently maintained that he is not interested in participating in the 2027 presidential race.
“The attention of His Excellency Samuel Ortom has been drawn to a fake poster being circulated on social media alleging that he is preparing to run for president in 2027,” the statement read.
“It is entirely false, unfounded and designed by mischief makers to spread confusion and fuel baseless political speculation.”
Akase urged Nigerians to disregard the poster and avoid spreading what he described as deliberate misinformation aimed at deceiving unsuspecting members of the public.
