Brazilian international Casemiro has clarified his decision to depart Manchester United, dismissing the possibility of an additional season at Old Trafford. Despite a resurgent campaign under Michael Carrick that led supporters to lobby for a contract extension, the 34-year-old veteran is prepared to exit the Premier League club when the current season concludes. The midfielder noted that while the bond with the club remains strong, he believes the timing is right for a fresh start elsewhere.
Reflecting on his tenure and the affection shown by the fan base, Casemiro shared his perspective with ESPN Brasil:
“There is no chance [for me to stay one more year]. It is leaving through the front door. It has been four wonderful years, and I am eternally grateful not only to the club but to the fans. I think it is over. The cycle has ended here. I am moving on to a new chapter in my career.”
His departure marks the end of a significant era in United’s midfield, leaving the club to seek a replacement for his experienced presence this summer.
