The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the sale of application documents for the 2026 Direct Entry (DE) admission process, now scheduled to close on May 8, 2026.
This decision as announced by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Public Communication Adviser (PCA) for JAMB aims to enhance access to tertiary education across Nigeria and ensure that no qualified candidate misses out on the admission process due to time constraints.
The previous deadline had raised concerns among prospective applicants who were still in the process of completing their registrations. In response, JAMB’s extension is designed to accommodate these candidates and facilitate a more inclusive admission experience.
To further alleviate registration challenges, JAMB has also approved five new centres dedicated to handling Direct Entry applications in areas with high demand. This initiative seeks to reduce congestion at existing facilities and improve overall service delivery for applicants.
The newly approved centres are:
1. Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL), Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara State
2. Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State
3. Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State
4. Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State
5. Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), located at No. 2, Iwaya, Sabo, opposite Onike Girls Junior High School, Lagos State, set to commence operations on April 30, 2026.
JAMB has reiterated that its offices nationwide, including Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) and Professional Testing Centres (PTCs), remain available for the ongoing Direct Entry registration. Prospective candidates are encouraged to utilize the extension period to finalize their applications promptly.
The Board remains committed to expanding access to higher education and ensuring that the admission process is seamless and inclusive for all eligible candidates.
