Nigerian social media influencer Priscilla Ojo has spoken about emotional expectations placed on men, while also choosing not to disclose her religious affiliation during a recent interview.
She made the remarks during an outdoor conversation with content creator Jarvis, where discussions centred on emotional wellbeing and societal pressures.
Ojo noted that women are often more openly allowed to express their emotions, while men are frequently expected to suppress theirs regardless of personal struggles.
“Being a woman is not easy emotionally… we are allowed to express our emotions, but men are often expected to hide theirs,” she said.
She added that while emotional expression can offer relief, many men tend to bottle up their feelings, which can become overwhelming over time.
According to her, open communication is important for mental and emotional balance, especially for men who may lack safe spaces to express vulnerability.
“Life can be hard for them,” she added.
During the interview, Ojo was also asked to clarify her religious identity but declined to give a direct answer.
She explained that she prefers to avoid such topics publicly due to concerns about misinterpretation and online distortion of statements.
Citing a past experience involving her husband, she said comments made in interviews can easily be misrepresented once circulated on social media platforms.
Ojo stressed that her decision was not meant to be evasive but rather a precaution against misinformation and misrepresentation.
