Nigerian actor Clinton Joshua has shared why he avoids taking on kissing roles in films, saying the decision is part of a broader effort to shape his career intentionally.
Speaking during an interview with TVC Entertainment, Joshua explained that he is mindful of the kind of image he projects on screen and the long-term impact of the roles he accepts.
According to him, excelling in certain types of scenes could lead to being repeatedly cast in similar roles, a situation he is keen to avoid.
He stressed that maintaining versatility is important to him, adding that he does not want to be associated with a specific type of performance.
Joshua noted that his choices are guided by how he envisions his career evolving within the industry.
“If I’m good at it, producers will likely give me the same role over and over again,” he said, adding that he is not interested in becoming known for repeatedly acting romantic scenes.
His comments highlight ongoing conversations within Nollywood about typecasting and the importance of actors taking control of their professional direction.
