Afrobeats singer Ruger has revealed that he once missed an opportunity to feature in a film by Nollywood filmmaker Funke Akindele after failing to see her direct message on time.
Speaking during an interview with media personality VJ Adams, Ruger explained that he had noticed Akindele often supported his music and had planned to reach out to thank her.
However, he later discovered that the actress had already contacted him with a film role offer—one he only saw after it was too late to respond.
According to the singer, the missed opportunity remains one of his biggest regrets so far in his career.
“It still pains me,” he admitted, adding that he would have loved to take up the role.
Ruger also expressed a strong interest in acting, noting that he would not rule out a future in Nollywood. He said while filming schedules can be demanding, he is open to stepping into acting if the right opportunity comes along.
“I am interested in acting… if the character is interesting, I can get into it,” he said.
The singer added that although he is aware of the challenges involved in film production, he is willing to commit fully if presented with a compelling role.
Ruger’s comments highlight the growing crossover between Nigeria’s music and film industries, where several artistes are increasingly exploring opportunities on screen alongside their music careers.
