Siaya Governor James Orengo on Sunday declared himself the acting leader of the Orange Democratic Movement party, saying that the current party leader, Oburu Odinga, is incompetent to lead the party.
Orengo spoke during the Linda Mwananchi rally in Nakuru, where leaders allied to the faction continued to criticise the alliance between ODM and President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino rallied supporters behind the ‘Linda Mwananchi’ faction, describing Governor Orengo as a key pillar of the movement.
“We are going through many challenges, including the high cost of living and unemployment, and we want Kenyans to pray for this group and our pillar James Orengo. He is the source of our wisdom, and I am sure we will liberate this country,” said Owino.
The Linda Mwananchi faction is expected to tour Kisumu County next weekend.
