With the conclusion of the registration phase, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a total of 3,748,704 completed registrations in the second phase of its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, disclosed this in the commission’s weekly update for Week 14 released in Abuja, noting that the exercise ended on Friday, 17 April.
She said the figure comprises both online pre-registrations and in-person completions at designated centres nationwide, reflecting continued public participation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“A breakdown of the registrations shows that 2,259,288 Nigerians completed their registration through the online pre-registration portal, while 1,489,416 finalised their registration physically”, she said.
Eta-Messi noted that the figures remain preliminary and subject to further verification.
She explained that following the conclusion of the registration phase, INEC has now shifted focus to the display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections, a key process aimed at ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the voter register.
The display exercise is scheduled to hold nationwide from 29 April to 5 May, giving citizens the opportunity to verify their details and raise objections where necessary.
Eta-Messi urged Nigerians who participated in the second phase to use the window to confirm their information and report errors, including duplicate entries, deceased persons, and non-citizens.
She added that the CVR exercise is being implemented in phases, with the first phase running from 18 August to 10 December 2025, while the second phase took place from 5 January to 17 April 2026.
The commission also said the date for the commencement of the third phase will be announced in due course.
Eta-Messi reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to maintaining a credible voter register, describing it as central to delivering free, fair, and transparent elections.
