As insecurity persists across Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and security experts have renewed calls for a tech-driven approach to strengthen surveillance, intelligence, and response systems.
The call was made during an event in Abuja held in honour of Peter Olumuji, who recently earned a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies from Nasarawa State University.
Speaking at the gathering, Olatunji Disu stressed the importance of combining academic knowledge with practical policing, urging officers to pursue specialised training to enhance their effectiveness in tackling modern security threats. He also commended Olumuji for his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to service.
Experts at the event highlighted the growing role of technology, such as drones, CCTV systems, and intelligence platforms, in improving security operations, noting that integrating these tools would reduce risks faced by personnel while boosting efficiency.
In his remarks, Olumuji emphasised that adopting advanced technology in security operations would not only improve response strategies but also help safeguard the lives of officers operating in high-risk environments.
