The administrative board of Bendel Insurance has formally reprimanded Technical Adviser Kennedy Boboye, following a controversial incident during their Matchday 32 fixture against Plateau United. The Benin-based organization emphasized that the club’s identity is built on a foundation of professional discipline and adherence to the law, making it clear that the coach’s recent conduct was entirely unacceptable.
Boboye recently faced significant disciplinary penalties after he was found to have physically or verbally accosted a match official following the conclusion of the game. In a bid to mend professional relations and uphold the integrity of the league, the club has extended a formal apology to the Nigeria Referee Association (NRA) for the disruption caused by their head coach’s actions.
The club’s management did not mince words when addressing the fallout from the confrontation. According to a statement released via the NPFL media channels, the leadership conducted a comprehensive post-match analysis of the event.
“After a careful review of the circumstances surrounding the incident and the consequences there-in, the management expressed disgust and condemned the action of head coach Kennedy Boboye and described the incident as ugly and unfortunate,” the statement read.
Moving forward, the club has placed the entire coaching staff on notice, asserting that further lapses in professional decorum will lead to severe internal consequences. The leadership’s position remains resolute: ”The management has also cautioned coach Kennedy Boboye and his crew against a repeat of such action(s), insisting such behaviours will not be tolerated as Insurance FC remain a disciplined and law abiding club.”
This internal intervention serves as a public commitment to restoring the club’s reputation and ensuring that the focus remains on football rather than disciplinary disputes.
