Veteran Nollywood actress Fausat Balogun, widely known as Madam Saje, has spoken about her fondness for attending social events, particularly those hosted by younger actors.
In a recent interview with African A-List, the actress addressed criticism over her frequent appearances at parties, explaining that her motivation goes beyond leisure.
According to her, showing up for such events is a way of offering support, especially to emerging actors who may not receive widespread attention.
She revealed that her perspective is shaped by personal experience. In the past, she organised an event and invited several people, but many failed to attend — a moment she says left a lasting impression.
That experience, she noted, drives her to be present for others, ensuring that younger colleagues do not feel overlooked during important moments in their careers.
Madam Saje also reflected on her early years in the film industry, describing a period marked by hardship. She disclosed that she once resorted to stealing food to survive and worked on film projects without financial reward.
Despite those challenges, the actress emphasised that perseverance remains key, noting that every profession comes with its own difficulties.
She advised young people to remain patient and avoid comparing their journeys with others, stressing that success comes in its own time.
