Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has refuted widespread claims of a fallout between him and acclaimed filmmaker Funke Akindele, describing the reports as unfounded and driven by social media speculation.
Speaking during an interview with BBC, Makinde clarified that there has been no disagreement between the two, despite circulating narratives suggesting otherwise.
He attributed the rumours to the tendency of online platforms to create and amplify unverified stories, often assigning individuals to narratives that lack factual basis.
According to the actor, his relationship with Akindele did not originate from social media and cannot be defined by online activity or public perception.
Makinde further explained that personal and professional growth can sometimes create the impression of distance between individuals, which may be misinterpreted as conflict.
“There’s been no issue between Madam Funke and me, and I’m not aware of any fallout,” he said. “Social media often creates its own version of events, casting people into stories that aren’t real.”
He added that evolving career paths may change how relationships appear externally, but do not necessarily signal a breakdown in ties.
Makinde’s remarks come amid renewed public interest in his association with Akindele, following recent developments in his career and increased online discussions about their working relationship.
