Allegations linking United States First Lady, Melania Trump, to Jeffrey Epstein have been firmly denied, as she calls for congressional action on the case involving his victims.
Speaking at the White House on Thursday, Trump dismissed what she described as a “persistent and malicious” online conspiracy theory, insisting there was no basis for the claims.
“The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today.
“The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation”, she added.
Melania did not name specific individuals or platforms behind the allegations, which have circulated for years in fringe online communities despite no verified evidence.
Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, had maintained ties with high-profile figures in politics, business and royalty.
While President Donald Trump has been photographed with Epstein in the past, there is no credible evidence linking Melania Trump to his residences or private aircraft.
Shifting focus, Trump called on Congress to hold a formal hearing into the Epstein case, urging lawmakers to hear directly from survivors.
“Let the women who suffered under this predator speak directly to the American people, under oath, without filter and without fear”, she said.
She concluded her remarks without taking questions, returning to the residence as White House officials said the administration had no role in arranging the statement but respects her right to speak on the matter.
