A Brigadier General of the Nigerian Army has been killed in a series of coordinated terrorist attacks across multiple locations in Borno State, marking another significant setback in ongoing counterterrorism operations in Nigeria’s North-East.
The attacks, which occurred late Wednesday night, targeted at least four communities, including Pulka, Bakin Ruwa, Benisheikh, and Ngamdu.
According to reports, the first wave of assaults began at about 10:30 p.m. in Pulka and Bakin Ruwa, both in Gwoza Local Government Area.
Insurgents reportedly overran a military base in the area, setting several military assets ablaze. Construction equipment belonging to the Borno State Government was also destroyed during the attack.
The attackers further looted food items from shops in Pulka town before withdrawing.

Hours later, at approximately midnight, the insurgents launched another set of attacks on Benisheikh and nearby Ngamdu.
In Benisheikh, the terrorists reportedly overran the 29 Task Force Brigade, destroying multiple military vehicles.
During the attack, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General O.O. Braimah, was killed while reportedly leading efforts to defend the base, his troops, and civilians in the area.
The attackers also set several transit vehicles on fire and operated in the town for over three hours.

Security sources indicate that the assault on Ngamdu, located close to Benisheikh, may have been a diversionary tactic designed to delay reinforcement efforts.
Similarly, the attack on Bakin Ruwa is believed to have served as a decoy to facilitate the Pulka operation.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian military has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incidents.
