The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory announcing temporary road diversions and restrictions across key parts of the city to facilitate the commissioning of major infrastructure projects.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged residents and motorists to plan their journeys ahead of time and avoid affected corridors where possible.
He noted that the measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and allowing for smooth conduct of the scheduled commissioning events.
According to the government, the inauguration of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Traffic disruptions are expected around Opebi-Allen in Ikeja, as well as Ojota and surrounding areas.
Motorists travelling through these locations during the period have been advised to use alternative routes to minimise delays.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, additional commissioning activities will affect traffic in other parts of the state. Between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., the opening of the Tolu Schools Complex is expected to impact movement around Olodi-Apapa and Ajegunle. Road users are encouraged to make necessary travel adjustments.
Later in the day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., another event will be held at Eko Hotel in Victoria Island. Authorities have warned of possible congestion along this corridor and advised motorists to either avoid the area or exercise caution.
The state government reiterated its commitment to managing traffic effectively during the period and appealed for public cooperation.
