Controversial relationship expert Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has maintained that she does not owe the public an apology over her recent breast cancer disclosure, despite mounting criticism.
Speaking in an interview with social media personality Egungun of Lagos, released on Saturday, Okoro dismissed claims that she had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, describing such reports as inaccurate.
Addressing the backlash, she questioned the basis for calls demanding an apology. “For what? Who did I hurt?” she said, insisting her intentions were not to mislead the public.
Okoro suggested that the widely circulated stage four diagnosis may have resulted from a misunderstanding of medical information provided to her. She explained that she is still awaiting a definitive staging from her doctors after undergoing several tests.
“I don’t know the stage I am right now,” she said, adding that she expects clarity following a scheduled consultation with her oncologist.
She also clarified reports about funds raised during the period of public support, stating that she received N13 million in donations—far below claims that the figure reached N100 million.
According to her, she has not commenced chemotherapy, noting that her most recent procedure was a biopsy. She traced the health concern to a lump discovered last year, which was initially deemed non-cancerous but later identified as malignant after further examination.
On demands to release medical records, Okoro declined, describing such documents as private.
“I can’t post my results online. It’s personal stuff,” she said.
While acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding her condition, she said she remains focused on treatment options, including the possibility of surgery if necessary.
Beyond addressing the controversy, Okoro used the platform to advocate for increased awareness of breast cancer. She encouraged women to regularly examine themselves for early signs, stressing the importance of early detection.
Her comments come amid ongoing public debate, with some questioning the accuracy of her initial announcement, which had drawn widespread sympathy and financial support.
