FC Barcelona moved a step closer to retaining the LaLiga title with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over 10-man Atlético Madrid on Saturday, extending their lead at the top to seven points.
Robert Lewandowski struck in the 87th minute to seal the win for Hansi Flick’s side, completing a comeback after Marcus Rashford had earlier cancelled out Giuliano Simeone’s opener just before half-time.
Barcelona’s task was eased when Atlético were reduced to 10 men following Nicolás González’s red card deep into first-half stoppage time, allowing the visitors to dominate proceedings after the break.
The victory also allowed Barcelona to capitalise on Real Madrid’s earlier 2–1 defeat to Mallorca, strengthening their grip on the title race with eight matches remaining.
With momentum firmly on their side, Barcelona now look increasingly poised to defend their LaLiga crown.
