The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has formally resigned from the administration of President Bola Tinubu, a move widely understood to be in line with ongoing political adjustments and the directive requiring appointees with electoral ambitions in 2027 to step down.
She announced her resignation on Friday via a statement shared on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, describing the development as the close of an important chapter in her public service journey.
While she did not disclose specific reasons for her departure, Onyejeocha expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve at the federal level, describing her time in office as both an honour and a privilege.
She thanked President Bola Tinubu for his trust and leadership, noting that working under his administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda had been a rewarding experience.
The former minister also commended officials and staff of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment for their professionalism and collaboration in driving key labour reforms and improving workplace standards.
According to her, her tenure witnessed efforts focused on strengthening workers’ rights, enhancing occupational safety, and creating broader employment opportunities across the country.
Onyejeocha also extended gratitude to her constituents in the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, saying their support remained a constant source of strength throughout her service.
In her words, she stated: “I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity you gave me to serve Nigeria in your administration. Your trust, support, and visionary leadership have been invaluable. Working under your Renewed Hope Agenda has been an honour and privilege.”
She added: “To the Honourable Minister, Permanent Secretary, Directors, and every member of staff, thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and partnership.
“Serving Nigeria has been the greatest privilege of my life. As one chapter closes, another opens. I remain committed to service, to progress, and to building the Nigeria we all deserve”.
