Former defensive standout William Gallas has offered a measured appraisal of Arsenal’s silverware prospects, predicting that the North London club will conclude the current campaign with a solitary trophy. Despite Mikel Arteta’s squad remaining active on three distinct fronts, Gallas suggests that the Premier League title is the only accolade likely to arrive at the Emirates Stadium this term. This assessment comes as the Gunners prepare for a grueling schedule, beginning with a pivotal FA Cup quarter-final clash against Southampton this Saturday evening.
The fixture list intensifies immediately following their domestic cup commitments, as Arsenal shifts focus back to the continental stage for a high-stakes UEFA Champions League quarter-final encounter with Sporting CP next week. Following the European tie, the Premier League leaders are slated to resume their domestic league ambitions with a trip to face Bournemouth on April 11. While the momentum remains high, Gallas expressed skepticism regarding their ability to navigate the elite challenges of the Champions League, noting that their FA Cup fate likely hinges on the potential opposition in the latter stages.
In a recent discussion with Football Odds, the former captain analyzed the specific dynamics that could define Arsenal’s season. He highlighted that while the league title is within their grasp, their success in other knockout competitions remains contingent on tactical matchups and the progression of their primary rivals.
“Can Arsenal win the treble? I think Arsenal will win one trophy and that’s the Premier League,” Gallas told football odds.
“They still have to be careful but normally they would win the Premier League from this position.
“Champions League? I don’t think so. The FA Cup all depends on the result between Liverpool and Manchester City.
“If it’s Manchester City in the final, I think Manchester City will win. If it’s Liverpool vs Arsenal in the final, Arsenal will win. It’s a different style and I think Liverpool’s style suits Arsenal better.”
