Priscilla Ojo has publicly defended her mother, Iyabo Ojo, amid ongoing controversies surrounding the Nollywood star.
In a post shared on Instagram on Thursday, Priscilla alleged that there has been a consistent pattern of events aimed at undermining her mother’s plans, particularly her upcoming movie, The Return of Arinzo. Despite this, she expressed confidence that the project would succeed.
According to her, Iyabo Ojo is frequently misunderstood and unfairly criticised, with narratives often being distorted whether she chooses to speak out or remain silent.
“Always misunderstood, always blamed!! Even when she’s not the one in the mix… A lot of drama back-to-back, just for one aim: ruin her plans, but God’s stronger than man,” she wrote.
Priscilla assured her mother of unwavering support from her fans, urging her to remain authentic despite the criticism. She also pointed to the turnout at the film’s premiere as evidence of Iyabo’s positive influence and strong industry relationships.
“If she were a bad person, do you think people would show up and support her? Exactly… that shows how she shows up and supports people,” she added.
Her comments come amid renewed attention on tensions within Nollywood, including a viral moment involving Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham at the movie premiere. In the clip, Funke appeared to ignore Toyin’s greeting while seated alongside Iyabo Ojo and Mercy Aigbe.
Reacting to the broader situation, Iyabo Ojo had earlier called on critics to refrain from insults, stating that she had previously intervened in attempts to reconcile differences but would no longer do so. She also urged the public to respect her decision to maintain distance.
Priscilla concluded by expressing confidence in the film’s commercial success, encouraging supporters to show up in large numbers for its release.
