Rapper Dremo has shared the reasons behind his departure from Davido Music Worldwide, revealing that the label’s management focused predominantly on CEO Davido, to the detriment of other artists.
In an interview with Echo Room, Dremo stated that the management’s attention on Davido undermined collaborations and overall growth for label mates. He noted that he never collaborated with fellow rapper Idowest, and that DMW never produced a label-wide album.
“The label [DMW] didn’t give me money. It was like a platform. I didn’t get what I wanted from the label,” he said, adding that the experience did not meet his expectations.
Dremo explained that this environment motivated him to pursue a career as an independent artist, emphasizing creative freedom and personal growth outside of the label system.
His comments provide insight into the challenges artists face in major Nigerian record labels and the increasing trend of musicians seeking independence in the industry.
