Gospel singer Busola Oke has opened up about her frustrations with critics, highlighting the challenges of meeting public expectations while pursuing her music career.
In a video shared online, Oke expressed exasperation over repeated criticism for singing older songs, being compared to fellow artists, and receiving comments about her age and musical style.
“I’m at a loss for what people really want from me. No matter what I do, it’s never right, and you always find fault,” she said, describing the pressure and scrutiny she faces from audiences.
Oke also spoke to interviewer Biola Bayo about the financial realities of gospel music, noting that talent alone doesn’t guarantee sustainable income in the industry.
She revealed that her emotional video stemmed from feelings of loneliness, hunger, and frustration, adding a raw and personal perspective to the struggles faced by artists in the gospel scene.
Her candid statements have since resonated with fans and sparked discussions about the pressures and expectations placed on musicians in Nigeria’s gospel music industry.
