Reality TV personality Angel Smith has restated her queer identity following widespread reports about her recent wedding to her partner, Tumininu, in the United States.
In a series of posts shared on X, the former BBNaija star addressed public reactions to her marriage, stressing that her sexuality has always been openly expressed both before and after her rise to fame. She cautioned against linking her personal achievements or identity to any romantic partner.
Smith also highlighted her longstanding support for the LGBTQ community, noting that she has consistently used her platform to engage diverse voices, including hosting conversations with members of the community on her podcast. Her remarks appeared aimed at clarifying misconceptions and responding to surprise expressed online.
The wedding, described as a private ceremony with an all-black theme, was attended by close friends and family members in the U.S. The couple had made their relationship public in 2025 and are reported to have formalised their union earlier this year through a civil ceremony.
Her statements have triggered mixed reactions across Nigerian social media, where debates continue over her identity, public stance, and the broader influence of celebrities on social issues.
Before her relationship with Tumininu, Smith was romantically linked to fellow reality TV star Soma Anyama, whom she met during the BBNaija All Stars edition in 2023. Their relationship ended in early 2024, with Smith later speaking out about the pressure and scrutiny that followed the breakup.
