The Nigerian Army on Saturday held a ceremonial pull-out parade in honour of Major General Erema Akerejola, marking his retirement after decades of distinguished service.
The full-dress ceremony took place at the Supply and Transport Barracks in Benin, drawing family members, senior officers, and colleagues who gathered to witness the traditional end-of-service ritual.
Troops marched in precise formation as a bugler sounded the final call, symbolising Akerejola’s exit from active duty.
The atmosphere was described as emotional, with tributes pouring in from serving and retired personnel who praised his discipline, leadership, and commitment to national unity.
Akerejola’s career spanned both logistics and field operations, including key roles in counter-insurgency coordination in the North-East and efforts to modernise transport command strategies within the Army.

The ceremony concluded with the traditional slow drive through assembled troops, as Akerejola stood in an open-top staff car, acknowledging the salute of personnel who served alongside him.
