American singer Jason Derulo has revealed that he once expected to settle down early, admitting he never imagined being single at 37.
In a recent interview with Graham Bensinger, the “Don’t Wanna Go Home” hitmaker said his outlook on relationships has shifted over time due to personal experiences and what he has witnessed around him.
Derulo explained that repeated exposure to relationship breakdowns and tense situations between couples has made him more cautious about commitment. He noted that these experiences have influenced his reluctance to take the next step in relationships.
Reflecting on his past, the singer said he once believed several of his relationships would lead to marriage. However, he admitted that reality turned out differently, citing the unpredictable nature of modern relationships.
Derulo was previously in a high-profile relationship with fellow singer Jordin Sparks, which lasted three years before ending in 2014.
In 2021, he welcomed a son with his then-girlfriend Jena Frumes, but the pair separated just months after their child’s birth.
The singer said his journey has reshaped his expectations, leaving him more guarded about long-term commitments despite earlier hopes of marrying young.
