Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has hailed Barcelona midfielder Pedri as his ânew favourite footballerâ following the Catalan clubâs 2-1 Champions League victory over Newcastle United on Thursday night.
A brace from Marcus Rashford sealed the win for Barcelona at St Jamesâ Park, while Anthony Gordon netted a late consolation for the hosts.
Despite Rashfordâs heroics, Scholes was particularly impressed with Pedriâs commanding display in midfield, where he and Frenkie de Jong dictated the tempo throughout the encounter.
The former England international shared his admiration on Instagram, posting: âPedri my new favorite footballer,â accompanied by a love emoji.
Pedri will now look to carry his fine form into LaLiga action this weekend against Getafe under new manager Hansi Flick.
