Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has issued a public apology to fellow actress Mercy Johnson, following a cybercrime-related incident that led to her arrest and brief detention.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Okorie expressed regret over her actions, admitting that she acted based on misleading information and gossip she had heard about Johnson. She described the situation as a turning point and said she has since resolved the matter privately with her colleague.
According to earlier reports, Okorie was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in Abuja at her residence in Lagos. She was subsequently detained at the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State before regaining her freedom.
Addressing the controversy, Okorie said she has now come to know Mercy Johnson as a kind and well-meaning person, contrary to the negative narratives she previously believed. She confirmed that Johnson accepted her apology and that both actresses have agreed to move forward peacefully.
The actress also used the opportunity to thank her fans for their support during the period, describing the outpouring of goodwill as overwhelming. She noted that personal growth has made her reconsider unnecessary conflicts and public drama.
Okorie stressed that her focus is now on running her business and living a quieter life, distancing herself from industry gossip and disputes. She added that reconciliation was important not only for personal peace but also for the sake of their families and children.
The apology comes amid heightened public attention on the legal case, which had earlier sparked conversations across social media and entertainment circles.
