The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, says the state currently has a deficit of 28,000 teachers.
Oyebamiji made the claim during the ARISE 2026 Governorship Election Town Hall, where he identified education as a key priority of his proposed administration.
He said the shortage was a major concern given the importance of education to development.
“As of today, we have 28,000 deficits of teachers in Oshun and education is just the bedrock of any form of achievement in the world.”
Oyebamiji said his administration would invest heavily in education if elected, alongside improvements in healthcare.
“I’m going to invest heavily on health care, on education.”
He also said the welfare of workers across the state’s sectors would receive greater attention under his administration.
“But this is very important. As of today, we have 28,000 deficits of teachers in Osun and education is just the bedrock of any form of achievement in the world.”
Oyebamiji said the teacher shortage underscored the need for greater investment in the state’s education system.
“So education is so important in Osun and this is not, this is something that is not, we can’t write anything about. So I’m going to invest in education, health is important.”
