Ariana Grande has secured her seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as her latest project, Petal, debuts at the top of the ranking.
The album opened with 295,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States during the tracking week ending August 6, marking Grande’s biggest weekly performance by units in the 2020s.
The achievement also gives the singer-songwriter her biggest pure album sales week in more than a decade, further cementing her status among the leading female artists in Billboard history.
With her seventh Billboard 200 chart-topper, Grande now ties with Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga for the fifth-most No. 1 albums among solo women since the chart began in 1956.
Taylor Swift leads the category with 15 No. 1 albums, followed by Barbra Streisand with 11, Madonna with 10, and Beyoncé with eight.
Grande’s previous Billboard 200 No. 1 albums include Eternal Sunshine (2024), Positions (2020), Thank U, Next (2019), Sweetener (2018), My Everything (2014), and Yours Truly (2013).
The latest milestone also marks her 10th album to reach the Billboard 200 top 10.
According to Billboard, Petal recorded 168,000 album sales, 126,000 streaming equivalent album units and 1,000 track equivalent album units during its opening week.
The album’s streaming performance represented 128.83 million on-demand official streams of its songs, while its physical sales included 96,000 vinyl copies Grande’s biggest vinyl week ever and one of the largest vinyl performances of 2026.
The album was released across multiple digital, streaming, vinyl, CD and cassette formats, including editions featuring bonus tracks, live recordings, voice notes, instrumentals and signed versions.
Grande announced Petal on April 28, following the success of her ninth Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which debuted atop the chart in June.
The singer is also currently on her The Eternal Sunshine Tour, which began in June and continues through September 1.
Meanwhile, the remaining positions on the Billboard 200 were dominated by previous chart-topping albums. Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem moved to No. 2, while Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love ranked third.
Other albums occupying the top 10 include Ella Langley’s Dandelion, Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide, Drake’s ICEMAN, and Michael Jackson’s classic album Thriller.
