Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has dismissed claims that he is a womaniser, insisting that the public perception of his personal life does not reflect who he truly is.
Speaking in a recent interview, the award-winning artiste said he is often misunderstood. While admitting that he admires women and does not hide it, he rejected the label frequently attached to him.
“The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womaniser. I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard,” he said.
The singer, who is a father of eight, also reflected on parenting and the demands of his decades-long music career. He described fatherhood as a blessing but admitted that the pressures of fame have limited the time he has spent with his children.
According to him, the reality of not being present for many shared moments weighs heavily on him at times. He praised his children as intelligent and remarkable individuals, while expressing a wish that he had been around more consistently as they grew up.
2Baba further addressed public commentary surrounding his wife, Natasha Idibia, pushing back against suggestions that she exerts undue influence over him. He described her as strong and intelligent, adding that negative narratives about her are often exaggerated or inaccurate.
He acknowledged that constant public scrutiny can be difficult to ignore, even for someone with years in the spotlight. However, he said experience has helped him develop resilience.
Beyond his public image, the singer revealed that he is naturally reserved. He explained that although his career demands confidence and visibility, he is, by nature, shy and values solitude.
At times, he said, he prefers quiet moments surrounded by nature, while at other times he enjoys social interactions, a balance he continues to navigate as one of Africa’s most recognisable music stars.
