The 2Baba Foundation has announced its support for the Abuja countdown to 2026 by offering music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia for a special command performance at the New Year celebration in the Federal Capital Territory.
The event, scheduled for December 31 at Eagle Square, is being organised by Yankee Entertainment in collaboration with Renewed Hope Youth Engagement and the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Social Events. It is aimed at ushering residents of Abuja into the New Year with music, entertainment, and community-focused activities.
In a statement, the management of the 2Baba Foundation said the decision to feature the African Queen crooner was inspired by his long-standing connection with Abuja residents. According to the Foundation, the performance is intended to express appreciation to fans while promoting hope and positivity as the city transitions into a new calendar year.
The Foundation, known for its public partnerships and grassroots engagement, noted that its core message centres on optimism and self-belief. “Anybody can be anything at any time, and there should be no loss of hope regardless of the situation,” the statement said.
Commenting on the event, the show organiser, Mallam Yankee, described 2Baba’s journey as a source of inspiration. He said the singer’s performance would encourage residents to embrace confidence and resilience as they step into 2026.
The New Year’s Eve celebration will also feature performances by other artistes, including Magnito, Shoday, Fola, and Soundboi BME. Activities are expected to begin at 2:00 p.m., with attractions such as a live concert, MSME exhibition, drift show, children’s arena, and a fireworks display to round off the countdown.
