Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Friday declared his unflinching support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing members of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in Ondo State as “movers and shakers” of the state’s politics upon whose shoulders he stands in the governance of the state.
Speaking at his formal investiture as the Grand Patron of the group during its inauguration in Akure, Aiyedatiwa said the composition of the TSG in Ondo State has made the task of promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration and preparing for his re-election campaign much easier.
“With the calibre of people in this group, the job of projecting the achievements of the Tinubu government and campaigning for his re-election when the time comes has become easier.
“I stand firmly with the goals of the TSG, which align with ensuring the continuity of the Tinubu administration.” the governor said
Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of the TSG, Ondo State Chapter, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, urged residents of the state and other stakeholders to rally behind President Tinubu, saying Ondo State had benefitted immensely from the President’s policies and projects within just two years in office.
Adegoroye, a former Minister of State for Transportation, said the inauguration of the group in Ondo was aimed at domesticating the national movement that contributed to Tinubu’s emergence as President.
“The TSG movement is taking off again to work assiduously towards positively profiling the President, our party, and our collective achievements,” he said. “We will show that President Tinubu is eminently qualified to be re-elected massively for a well-deserved second term.”
He highlighted key federal projects ongoing in Ondo State under the Tinubu administration, including the Akure–Ado Road, Ore–Akure Road, the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway covering over 70 kilometres in the state’s coastal belt, the Ilesa–Benin Road through Owo and Ose local governments, the Ekiti–Akoko Road, the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital, and the College of Aviation project.
Adegoroye also lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for his consistent support, saying: “The unprecedented projects of the President in Ondo State, when considered alongside the numerous initiatives of our governor, are sufficient achievements to campaign on when electioneering officially begins.”
He added that the group’s decision to honour Aiyedatiwa as Grand Patron was a recognition of his “love, leadership and support” for the TSG.
In his goodwill message, the National Director General of the Tinubu Support Group, Dr. Umar Tanko Yakassai, called for unity of purpose among party loyalists nationwide in ensuring Tinubu’s re-election.
Yakassai recalled Tinubu’s role in helping to secure victory for former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019, insisting it was now a moral obligation for the North to reciprocate the gesture.
“If Asiwaju supported Buhari in 2015 and repeated the same feat successfully in 2019, it has become a moral imperative for all of us from the North to stand with him and work towards his re-election,” Yakassai said.
He dismissed critics of the Tinubu administration as “a few dissenting voices,” noting that most were individuals “fingered in corruption, fraud or those who could not find accommodation within government structures.”
According to him, the TSG remains the umbrella body for all pro-Tinubu groups nationwide and would continue to mobilise support for the administration and for Tinubu’s re-election.
“We expect all other support groups to work hand in hand with the TSG to promote the Tinubu presidency and ensure victory for the APC in the next election,” Yakassai said.
