President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure a decisive victory in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio said the support of traditional rulers, community leaders, and key stakeholders in the area reflects strong grassroots alignment with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno.
Speaking to journalists after APC local government executives were elected through a consensus process, the Senate President urged party members to maintain unity and strengthen the party’s foundation.
“This is one of the most populous local governments in the state, and the people have consistently shown their support for President Tinubu and Governor Eno,” Akpabio said in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom. “The traditional rulers have made it clear that there is no alternative in their domain for the President outside Tinubu and for Governor outside Eno”.
He added that the council is expected to deliver significant votes to the APC, estimating that over 180,000 votes could be garnered based on current voter registration figures. Akpabio described the consensus election as peaceful and a clear demonstration of loyalty to the party leadership.
“The exercise was orderly, and the people’s endorsement is a reaffirmation of their confidence in both the President and the Governor”, he said, calling the occasion a “grand and historic moment for Essien Udim.
