A tragic stampede at a Nigerian musician’s concert in Nairobi, Kenya, has claimed the life of 20-year-old Karen Lojore.
The incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, at Nyayo National Stadium, where overcrowding reportedly triggered panic among attendees. On-site paramedics attempted emergency resuscitation before rushing Karen to Nairobi West Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Tukutane Entertainment, the show’s organiser, confirmed the tragedy on Instagram, expressing condolences to the family and loved ones. “We are deeply saddened to confirm that a tragic incident occurred during our December 20th concert, resulting in the loss of life. Our hearts are with the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this devastating loss,” the statement read. The organisers said they are cooperating with emergency services and authorities to investigate the incident.
This is not the first fatal stampede linked to the musician’s shows. In December 2022, a 33-year-old Nigerian mother of two, Rebecca Ikumelo, died during a stampede at a concert at Brixton O2 Academy in London, suffering severe injuries.
The incident has raised concerns about crowd management and safety measures at large-scale music events, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of regulations to prevent future tragedies.
