Two women linked to an evangelical church in Changamwe, Mombasa, where more than 20 people, including children, were rescued over the weekend, have been arrested.
The two were arrested even as the church’s founder and spiritual leader, identified as Prophetess Elizabeth Kadori, also known as Nabii Betty, defended her Zion Fire Anointing Ministries Church against accusations of extremism.
The two women, believed to be senior members of the church, were taken into custody after police raided the premises on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the 27 rescued individuals were released after recording statements.
